The American Film Institute presents Steven Spielberg with their twenty-third Life Achievement Award. The most prolific filmmaker of all time, this TV special documents his three-minute childhood films through to his three-hour Oscar-winning 1993 masterpiece "Schindlers List." Hosted by Tom Hanks, this tribute recognizes the genius of Spielberg's work. Highlights include everything from his breakthrough 1975 blockbuster "Jaws" to the horrific realism of the D-Day landing in 1998's "Saving Private Ryan", for which he won a second Best Director Oscar. With a variety of clips from his films and featuring some of Hollywood's finest contemporary actors.
