FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully travel to the town of Red Falls, in the Rocky Mountains, to investigate a series of murders committed by a man supposedly raised from the dead by two teenage sisters that the superstitious townsfolk suspect of witchcraft. Mulder believes that the girls are innocent and hopes to find them before the angry locals lynch them. However, the town turns out to be infested by rage zombies and Mulder and Scully's investigation into this zombie outbreak only leads to further mysteries involving an alien artifact, Krycek, a doomsday cult from Tunguska, Siberia and subsequently an alien spacecraft buried beneath the surface of the Earth, where the two agents must stop the "black oil" alien virus from taking control of the planet.
